Recent work – here’s a site design for Austin based musician and writer Mike Ethan Messick. Mike’s a really popular fixture on the Austin music scene – and also an accomplished writer & journalist. Designing Mike’s site in WordPress gave him a great platform to get his music and writing out there. Major features of this site include:
- WordPress blog engine – Mike can write articles, reviews, and observations on culture in the Austin area, and report on his shows, all without coding or having to pay a web designer. The WordPress platform makes it easy – news pages and “latest articles” listings are automatically organized and linked for easy reading.
- Full Social Media Intergration – Mike’s got a nice Facebook and Twitter following; an RSS feed makes it easy for his fans to keep track of what’s new. Facebook “Like” buttons are easy to find.
- Concert Calendar – no coding required – Mike enters his show dates & details in a simple interface, creating one-stop info for his fans.
- Email Marketing – there’s a quick & easy email entry on every page, which feeds Mike’s email marketing service mailing list. Zero hassles here – when it’s time to email, the addresses are there and opted in for full anti-spam compliance.
- Monetized for Musicians – direct links to popular download shopping (such as iTunes) make it easy for fans to load up their iPods – and latest album reviews are displayed on the download link pages.
WordPress isn’t 100% customizable – but you can do some tremendous design work, it’s very SEO friendly, and it allows your clients to take over site updating chores. Google loves fresh content; clients love being able to add news and events without writing a check. It’s a big win-win. Visit Mike’s website at this link.
